Just a month after Apple announced its latest iPhone and Apple Watch models, it has introduced the groundbreaking M5 chip — along with four new products.
The M5 chip boasts a 10-core CPU and GPU with a Neural Accelerator in each GPU core and is reported to provide 3.5 times the AI performance of the M4 chip. If it wasn’t apparent before, Apple is fully embracing AI. This remarkable new chip is integrated into a new 14-inch MacBook Pro, 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro, and Vision Pro.
Although the new products won’t commence shipping until next week, you can be one of the first to obtain them by pre-ordering. The MacBook Pro and iPad Pros have been made available for pre-order at Amazon as of Oct. 16 (to pre-order the Vision Pro, you’ll need to visit the Apple Store). We’ve compiled the pertinent information for you below.
14-inch M5 MacBook Pro
The M5 MacBook Pro resembles its predecessor significantly. It features the same 14.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display, 24-hour battery life, color choices of black and silver, 12MP Center Stage camera, and a six-speaker audio system. Its main enhancement is, undoubtedly, the powerful M5 chip, claimed to deliver 1.6x faster graphics and 2x faster SSD speeds in comparison to the M4. Additionally, it can be configured with up to 4TB of storage, while the earlier model only permitted a max of 1TB.
The base model of the M5 MacBook Pro includes a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage for a starting price of $1,599. Pre-orders are available at Amazon and will begin shipping on Oct. 22.
M5 iPad Pro
The new iPad Pro incorporates the M5 chip, making it the most laptop-like iPad ever. It is also the lightest and thinnest version to date, featuring an improved display, extended battery life, enhanced memory bandwidth, quicker charging, and faster storage read and write speeds. It comes in 11-inch and 13-inch options in Space Black and Silver colors and provides users the ability to upgrade storage up to 2TB and RAM up to 16GB.
The base models of the M5 iPad Pro start at $999 for the 11-inch version and $1,299 for the 13-inch model and are open for pre-order at Amazon today, with shipments starting on Oct. 22.
