The emerging wave of robot vacuums arriving in 2025 has introduced significant variety to the lineup. Some have been overrated, like the robot vacuum featuring an arm. However, a few have truly impressed — I’m quite certain that the Roborock Saros 10R will remain my top robot vacuum of the year, even if some latecomers emerge in the latter half. This doesn’t even take into account the eight new Roombas that arrived casually in the spring.

Throughout my in-apartment evaluations of all these robot vacuums, one particular vacuum distinguished itself as worthy of much more recognition than it’s currently receiving: the Eufy E20 3-in-1 vacuum. This brilliant design essentially features a robot vacuum that can convert into a cordless stick or handheld vacuum within seconds. While a budget-friendly convertible vacuum cleaner is likely something many people wish existed, few are aware that it actually does. Allow me to introduce you to the most underrated robot vacuum of 2025 thus far.

Most shoppers in the robot vacuum market encounter the classic dilemma: “Should I opt for a robot vacuum or a stick vacuum?” My foremost advice is to…well, get both. Instead of shelling out a hefty amount on a super advanced robot vacuum that does everything or on one of the pricey Dysons, you could intelligently invest around half on a more budget-conscious version of each.

But what if you prefer not to exceed $500 for your vacuum needs? It’s astonishing that something like the E20 didn’t materialize years ago, but Eufy truly deserves commendation for finally addressing that market gap. When I first learned of the E20’s launch during CES 2025, I anticipated it to be priced near $1,000. Not only is the $649.99 MSRP quite feasible, but I’ve observed the Eufy E20 on sale for under $400 multiple times since its release in February 2025. (As of this moment, it’s on sale for $379.99.)

The Eufy E20 acts as much of a space-saving solution as it is a budget-friendly option. If you’re committed to having both types of vacuums, it eliminates the need to stash a full-sized upright vacuum in a closet. Furthermore, the self-emptying dock itself is exceptionally compact, occupying about half the floor space that robot vacuums, which wash and dry their mopping pads, do. It’s undoubtedly one of the finest robot vacuums you can obtain for a compact area.

Regrettably, you do need to allocate a space for the loose stick vacuum wand. I wish the dock featured an option to attach it for storage.

The motor and onboard dust bin reside in the body of the robot vacuum most of the time. To transition to handheld mode, there’s a single red button to press to release the lightweight handheld section, which clicks directly onto the extender wand or handheld brush and crevice attachments. That’s all there is to the hardware involved.

Surprisingly, the Eufy E20 doesn’t cut corners on any cleaning mode.

No offense, but I wouldn’t have been shocked if an economical robot vacuum promising this kind of adaptability turned out to have subpar cleaning ability in at least one of the modes. However, for a mid-range price, the Eufy E20 is genuinely a competent vacuum in the robot vacuum, stick vacuum, and handheld vacuum categories. In robot mode, the E20’s 8,000 Pa of suction power is indeed comparable to most $500 to $700 vacuums out there, including the Eufy X10 Pro Omni that I adored in 2024.
