The Roses Cast Reveals Mysteries of the Fiery Dinner Gathering

What is it like to have front-row access at the most toxic dinner gathering of the year? If you purchase tickets to *The Roses*, you can get fairly close. This new comedy, based on the 1981 Warren Adler novel *The War of the Roses*, features renowned English actors Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch as Ivy and Theo Rose, a couple once madly in love but now teetering on the edge of divorce, eager to drag each other down—even with guests at the table!

To mark the movie’s release in the U.S. and UK, Mashable UK editor Shannon Connellan spoke with the cast of *The Roses*, including Sunita Mani, Ncuti Gatwa, Jamie Demetriou, Zoë Chao, and Kate McKinnon, along with screenwriter Tony McNamara and director Jay Roach. They shared insights about the experience of filming this scene and witnessing the drama unfold firsthand.

The supporting cast marveled at Colman and Cumberbatch as they delivered McNamara’s witty lines. Even after long days of shooting this scene, the laughter (and dining) carried on into the evening, with the cast heading out for dinner afterward.

To witness how this offscreen bonding manifests in the divorce comedy, don’t miss *The Roses*, now showing in theaters.
