Prime Day officially begins next week (July 8 through 11), but you can start grabbing deals on a variety of gadgets in advance—from headphones to televisions to laptops. While it may not reach Black Friday heights, Prime Day is generally a solid opportunity to find a bargain on a new laptop (especially MacBooks), including popular, affordable Chromebooks. It’s important to note, however, that the best bargains may not be on Amazon.

Similar to previous years, most Prime Day Chromebook promotions are set to occur at Best Buy or from OEMs like Acer, Asus, HP, and Lenovo. We expect some Chromebook reductions to emerge on Amazon once the official sale kicks off, but our experience suggests that shopping at Best Buy may yield the best savings. The retailer is hosting a “Black Friday in July” sale directly competing with Prime Day from July 7 through 13.

It’s notable that while Chromebooks are typically budget-friendly, technology tariffs have increased the prices of certain models by as much as $100. For example, Acer confirmed that its Chromebook Plus Spin 714 now retails for $799.99— a significant rise from its prior price of $699.99. Numerous Asus laptops have also seen price increases. We will be closely monitoring for significant Prime Day discounts on these models in response to President Trump’s tariffs.

Why we appreciate it

The 2025 Asus CX34 Chromebook Plus is quite remarkable, earning our sister site PCMag’s designation as the “best Chromebook for most individuals.” It’s next on our testing agenda, but it’s worth noting that we enjoyed the prior model. The 2025 variant upgraded to a newer 13th-gen Intel Core i5 CPU, features a pleasant keyboard and touchpad, includes a respectable number of ports, and delivers “seriously competitive performance for significantly less than some rival models,” according to PCMag. It also comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS storage, which is considered on the higher side for a Chromebook. While it’s not flawless (battery performance is merely average), for under $500, it’s the most worthwhile option.
