The White Lotus Season 3, Episode 7: What’s Greg’s Scheme — and Is Belinda at Risk?

Greg’s ominous presence casts a shadow in The White Lotus Season 3

Greg (Jon Gries), also referred to as Gary, has been a formidable figure in The White Lotus since its debut season. With each passing installment, his persona has become more sinister. Now, in Season 3, his link to Tanya’s (Jennifer Coolidge) tragic passing is increasingly evident—particularly following a crucial interaction involving Belinda (Natasha Rothwell), a character making her return from Season 1.

In Episode 7, Belinda identifies Greg as Tanya’s spouse and suspects, much like many viewers, that he may have influenced her death—potentially driven by her substantial wealth. However, this realization may have placed Belinda in jeopardy.

What transpires between Greg and Belinda in Episode 7?

During a fraught dinner gathering at Greg’s residence, he seizes a moment to speak with Belinda privately and uncomfortably. He acknowledges her awareness of his identity and mentions Tanya’s death, quickly refuting any involvement.

“I had nothing to do with it, to clarify,” Greg asserts. “Things were becoming very complex back home, and I wanted to avoid spending my entire life tangled in legal matters, with lawyers, and people making assumptions.”

He continues to share how deeply he enjoys Thailand and his desire to live out his life there peacefully—without complications. Then comes the twist: Greg proposes to give Belinda $100,000 to support the wellness venture she once suggested to Tanya in Season 1.

“Tanya would have wanted that,” he states. “And I believe she’d want me to spend my remaining years in tranquility. Perhaps, in return, you can honor that.”

Belinda’s reply? A cautious, “I need to think it over.”

Is Greg a threat to Belinda?

While Greg’s speech is veiled in courtesy, his motives appear far from innocuous. As Belinda departs the gathering, his frigid, expressionless gaze implies he’s not taking her uncertainty lightly.

Belinda’s son, Zion (Nicholas Duvernay), fears the worst—that Greg may turn against both of them if she declines the offer. And honestly, that concern isn’t unfounded.

Greg has already displayed his capacity for orchestrating murder, and with Tanya’s fortune now in his possession, he has the means to do it again. He’s cunning, self-serving, and has established a life in Thailand that he’s determined to safeguard. Would he eliminate another individual to keep his secrets hidden? It seems likely.

What lies ahead for Belinda?

Should Belinda reject Greg’s proposition, it’s difficult to envision him simply walking away. It’s more plausible that he has a backup plan ready. Whether it involves bribing, intimidating, or something far more sinister remains uncertain.

As we approach the finale, fans are on edge. Will creator Mike White truly eliminate another cherished character—especially one who has started a romance with spa manager Pornchai (Dom Hetrakul)? We’ll have to wait and find out.

The White Lotus is now streaming on Max, with new episodes released Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
