Thunderbolts* Mid-Credits Sequence Clarified

Marvel’s Thunderbolts* Mid-Credits Scene Takes a Hysterical Detour in the Cereal Aisle

Marvel’s Thunderbolts* presents an unexpected and amusing moment in its initial post-credits scene — taking place in a grocery store.

In this mid-credits scene, we reconnect with Alexei Shostakov, also known as Red Guardian (portrayed by David Harbour), as he hangs out in a supermarket cereal section. His goal? To see if anyone will purchase a box of Wheaties showcasing the newly rebranded Thunderbolts — now referred to as the New Avengers — prominently featured on the front.

This cheerful moment recalls one of Alexei’s previous lines in the film, where he envisions being part of a heroic team so adored that they would land a spot on a Wheaties box. With the Thunderbolts now gaining attention as the New Avengers, that aspiration has technically been fulfilled.

However, there’s a twist: no one appears keen on buying the cereal.

In a comedic interaction, Alexei endeavors to convince a shopper to grab a box, emphasizing that it’s “beneficial for kids” and proudly flaunting his likeness on the front. The woman plays along by picking up the box — only to discard it at the end of the aisle and briskly walk away. Poor Alexei. It turns out that being a superhero doesn’t necessarily make you an excellent salesperson.

For those fans eager to obtain a New Avengers Wheaties box (without the cereal), you’re in luck. A collectible version is available for purchase online, or you might find a life-sized standee at select movie theaters.

It may not constitute a traditional balanced breakfast — especially one involving so much chaos and combat — but it’s undoubtedly a delightful Easter egg for Marvel enthusiasts.

Thunderbolts* is currently screening in theaters.
