TikTok has launched a selection of innovative tools and features, including monthly incentives and improved AI functionalities. A notable addition is Smart Split, an AI-based editing tool aimed at converting longer videos, like podcast sessions and extensive video essays, into shorter segments. “If you’ve ever dedicated hours to cutting down podcasts into clips… this one is tailored for you,” remarked Kim Farrell, TikTok’s global head of creators, during the 2025 U.S. Creator Summit.

This tool, available globally through TikTok Studio Web, automatically clips, reframes, captions, and transcribes longer videos into several shorter versions. Creators must upload videos that exceed one minute in duration and choose segments for clipping. They have the option to set a specific video length or let Smart Split automatically decide. Furthermore, users can modify caption formatting and reframe content as necessary.

TikTok also introduced AI Outline, an AI resource that helps creators with video titles, hashtags, hooks, and outlines. By providing a prompt or selecting a topic from Creator Search Insights, users receive an outline that breaks the video into six components. The AI-generated response can be adjusted for different hooks or to align better with the target audience. AI Outline is accessible to creators aged 18 and above in the U.S., Canada, and certain markets.

TikTok’s emphasis on AI reflects trends among social media platforms. Recently, Twitch launched an AI feature for generating clips from livestreams, akin to Smart Split. Meta presents a variety of AI tools for creators, such as those found in Edit, AI Studio, and Meta AI’s Vibes.
