What could be more enjoyable than doomscrolling solo? Doomscrolling as a pair.
TikTok has rolled out a new feature that enables users to share a feed with someone through DMs. TikTok mentioned in a press statement:
“We are also unveiling Shared Feed, a fresh method for friends and family to view and enjoy TikTok content collectively through a feed based on shared interests in direct messaging. Shared Feed can assist two individuals in staying connected by presenting new content customized to their preferences, ranging from sports to winter holiday activities and even their preferred fashion influencers.
Every day, friends and family will discover a curated set of 15 videos in their private chat that aligns with their interests. Each Shared Feed is tailored to the individuals who participate in it, with videos generated based on their TikTok interactions, including what they like, watch, and comment on.”
To initiate a “shared feed,” start a DM with someone, and the TikTok algorithm will showcase a daily array of over a dozen videos that should appeal to both users. For instance, you and a golf friend will receive golf videos, or you and your partner might get meal prep recipe suggestions.
Users can discuss, comment on, and like the videos within the DM. If they find the experience unsatisfactory, users can exit the shared feed at any moment.
