Tinder Now Allows You to Search According to Your Preferences

**Tinder Unveils New Match Search Function Tailored to Relationship Preferences**

Tinder has been broadening its functionalities over recent years, incorporating **relationship goals** and **relationship types** to assist users in discovering suitable matches. Now, just in time for Valentine’s Day, the dating app is rolling out a fresh tool that enables users to search for potential matches according to their relationship desires.

### A More Customized Matching Journey

Users can access this functionality via Tinder’s **Explore page**, which already provides a more dynamic, Instagram- or TikTok-like atmosphere. Previously, Explore permitted users to filter matches based on common interests, like an affinity for nature or a preference for coffee outings. Now, Tinder is enhancing this feature by allowing users to fine-tune their search according to relationship preferences.

### How It Functions

Users can now pick a **relationship category tile** that most accurately reflects what they’re after. Once chosen, they’ll be able to view and connect with singles in their vicinity who desire the same kind of relationship. The choices available include:

– **Serious Dater**
– **Long-Term Partner**
– **Short-Term Fun**
– **Non-Monogamy**
– **New Friends**

To qualify for the **Serious Dater** category, users must fulfill certain criteria: they should have a bio, upload a minimum of four photos, and categorize their relationship goals as one of the long-term partner options. Tinder predicts this will be among the most sought-after categories. A recent survey among 4,000 active daters (ages 18-30) across the U.S., UK, Canada, and Australia indicated that **41% were searching for marriage material, 39% sought long-term relationships, and 27% were looking for an “intentionship”**—a term denoting a relationship with clear intentions.

### A Move Toward Purposeful Dating

Tinder’s Chief Marketing Officer, **Melissa Hobley**, emphasized this trend in the app’s **Year in Swipe** report, noting, *”Singles are embracing intentionality in their dating lives—being upfront about what they want and refusing to settle.”*

Furthermore, Tinder’s internal statistics from January show that **14% of users who define a relationship type opt for non-monogamous choices**, including ethical non-monogamy, open relationships, or polyamory. An additional **22% of users are open to exploring non-monogamous relationships**.

### A Global Launch

No matter what type of relationship you’re pursuing, this new feature is being introduced **globally**, simplifying the process for Tinder users to find matches who align with their dating aspirations.

With this enhancement, Tinder continues to progress, providing users with greater autonomy over their dating encounters and facilitating connections with those who share similar intentions.
