What Is Connections?
Connections is a daily word puzzle presented in The New York Times Games section. Developed with the assistance of associate puzzle editor Wyna Liu, the game has garnered a dedicated online following. It can be played on both desktop and mobile browsers.
The aim is straightforward: from a grid of 16 words, organize them into four groups of four words that have a shared theme. These themes can include pop culture allusions, historical personalities, software, geography, and more. While some words may appear to fit together, there is only one valid grouping for each category.
Each correct grouping you discover is removed from the grid. But tread carefully—each wrong guess counts as a mistake, and you are only permitted four before the game concludes.
To assist you in recognizing patterns, you can shuffle the grid. Each category is color-coded according to difficulty: yellow is the simplest, followed by green, blue, and finally purple. Like Wordle, you can share your results on social media once you’ve finished the puzzle.
