First dates can be universally anxiety-inducing, yet it’s fair to say you’ve likely never encountered one as catastrophic as the experience Meghann Fahy, the star of *The White Lotus*, endures in the forthcoming horror film *Drop*.
Helmed by Christopher Landon (*Happy Death Day*) and produced by Blumhouse (*M3GAN*, *Five Nights at Freddy’s*), *Drop* centers around Violet (played by Fahy), a widowed mother stepping into the dating scene for the first time in years. Her date, Henry (portrayed by Brandon Sklenar of *It Ends With Us*), appears charming and seemingly ideal. However, their hopeful evening takes a sinister twist when Violet begins receiving airdropped memes that threaten the safety of her son (Jacob Robinson) and her babysitting sister (Violett Beane).
As the tension escalates, Violet unveils that a masked intruder has infiltrated her home, not only observing her family but also surveilling the restaurant’s security cameras. Caught in a harrowing game, Violet confronts a dire decision: the only way to protect her loved ones is to eliminate Henry. But can she outsmart the criminal mastermind orchestrating these threats? And might there be a chance to redeem this calamitous date?
*Drop* is set to premiere in theaters on April 11.
