As Google and Apple face off during the “annual phone reveal” period, Samsung is preparing to unveil its next flagship smartphone. The company generally reveals its latest models in February at the Galaxy Unpacked event, meaning the official Galaxy S26 series is still half a year away. Nonetheless, leaks have already offered an initial look at what to expect, and Samsung mobile enthusiasts may not be thrilled with the updates.
The primary letdown pertains to the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Sources suggest that Samsung will persist in utilizing the same 5,000 mAh battery it has relied on for several years. If this is correct, it would mark the sixth straight Ultra version without an enhancement in battery capacity. The sole positive note is that leaks indicate the phone may offer 65W fast charging, a step up from the existing 45W limit.
In terms of design, Samsung stirred up reactions with the rounded edges of the S25, a modification that numerous fans believed made the Ultra look too similar to an iPhone. Now, leaks imply that the S26 Ultra will feature even more rounded corners, boasting a slightly bigger 6.89-inch display gained through smaller bezels rather than a larger body.
According to Phone Arena, the feedback has been predominantly unfavorable. The Galaxy Ultra series has been recognized for its unique characteristics, such as the curved display and sharp, angular corners, which set it apart from other devices. Some iPhone owners even purchased square cases to replicate the Samsung Galaxy aesthetic. For many fans, distancing itself from this identity seems like Samsung is abandoning what made its flagship easily identifiable.
However, these are merely speculations, and many aspects could change before February.
