Updated, Quicker Qi2.2 Wireless Chargers for iPhones: Essential Information You Should Have

iPhone users can rejoice as quicker wireless chargers are on the horizon for iPhones.

Yesterday, Ugreen, a Chinese tech firm, unveiled a Qi2.2 wireless charging power bank that will be available soon. Consequently, additional Qi2.2 products were certified by the Wireless Power Consortium from various producers.

Here’s what you should be aware of.

What is Qi2.2?

Qi2.2 is the newest wireless charging standard, improving upon earlier versions. It boosts power to 25W. Ugreen’s MagFlow Magnetic Power Bank is the first product to attain Qi2.2 certification.

Qi2, the earlier version, supported iPhone 15 and 16 from their release, and iPhone 13 and 14 since iOS 17.2, but only at speeds of 15W. The iPhone 16 already accommodates 25W charging, the quickest wireless rate, in conjunction with Apple’s MagSafe charger introduced last year.

Reportedly, the iPhone 16 series is “capable of 45W charging via USB-C” and “MagSafe wireless charging up to 25W with a 30W adapter or greater, along with Qi2 wireless charging up to 15W.” With Qi2.2, third-party chargers can now reach 25W wireless charging.

According to the WPC, Qi2.2 chargers utilize magnetic alignment to minimize power loss and enhance charging efficiency.
