Recall The Velvet Sundown, the Spotify collective that was rumored to be AI-created? It appears it is indeed partially AI-generated.
This past weekend, the band, with over one million monthly listeners on Spotify, refreshed its “About” page to elaborate on its incorporation of artificial intelligence.
Spotify’s AI DJ now accepts requests
Here’s the complete update:
“The Velvet Sundown is an artificial music venture steered by human creativity, composed, articulated, and visualized with the aid of artificial intelligence.
This is not a ruse — it’s a reflection. A continual artistic challenge aimed at pushing the limits of authorship, identity, and the future of music in the AI era.
All characters, narratives, music, voices, and lyrics are original works produced with the help of artificial intelligence tools used as creative instruments. Any resemblance to real places, events, or individuals — living or deceased — is completely coincidental and unintentional.
Not entirely human. Not entirely machine. The Velvet Sundown exists somewhere in the middle.”
So, it appears that creating two albums within the same year was indeed somewhat questionable.
