Volvo seems to have reserved the finest for the end in its series of electric SUVs. While the manufacturer already provides the small EX30 and the substantial EX90, the mid-sized EX60 is anticipated to be the brand’s top-selling model.
The complete unveiling of the Volvo EX60 is scheduled for January 21, but the company has already revealed some significant information regarding the imminent SUV. Importantly, the EX60 features a 400-mile range in an all-wheel drive setup. Although this number is not an official EPA assessment, Volvo asserts it was achieved through similar testing. The EX60 is also projected to have a WLTP range of around 810 kilometers, which could position it as the leader in its category among European electric SUVs.
The EX60 is the inaugural Volvo model to utilize mega casting, substituting “hundreds” of smaller components with one single, high-precision casting.
In comparison, the Tesla Model Y has a peak WLTP range of 622 kilometers. When it’s time to recharge the EX60’s battery, it can regain up to 340 kilometers of range in merely 10 minutes with a 400kW fast charger. Furthermore, Volvo will provide an optional 10-year battery warranty for those who are worried about battery life.
The EX60 will come in six- or seven-seat layouts, making it an appealing choice for larger families. The company has unveiled multiple images, one of which displays extra storage spaces in the trunk with the seats folded down, highlighting the seating arrangements.
Volvo will stream the official launch of the EX60 on January 21, and it will be available for viewing on Volvo’s website.
