What to Anticipate from the Amazon Autumn Hardware Event: Fresh Kindle, Fire TV, and Echo Gadgets

Amazon is preparing for significant announcements as Prime Big Deal Days and the holiday shopping season draw near. The retail powerhouse’s Devices & Services team is set to hold a press conference in NYC on Sept. 30, where new gadgets are anticipated to be unveiled. While Amazon has not revealed specifics, an invitation obtained by The Verge suggests there may be four devices. Anticipations include a new Kindle, potentially a color variant of the Kindle Scribe, as indicated by the invite’s phrase “with the stroke of a pen.” This development would enhance the Scribe’s annotation features with color options. Should a color Scribe be introduced, the Colorsoft line may not experience a price reduction, with expected pricing exceeding $500.

Amazon’s Fire TVs are also rumored to receive an upgrade, possibly featuring a new operating system, Vega OS, aimed at resolving the current lagging OS issues. An upgraded Echo speaker may be on the horizon since the Echo Dot and Echo Pop have not seen updates since 2022 and 2023, respectively. The invite image hints at a refresh for the Echo Studio, which is no longer listed on Amazon’s website.

Speculation indicates that Amazon Fire tablets might be equipped with a new Android operating system to rival premium tablets. Although not mentioned in the leaked invitation, a Fire tablet announcement could still occur.
