Victoria’s Secret faced a notable online security breach, resulting in its website being inaccessible on Thursday, showcasing only a message of apology to customers and leaving prospective buyers in a difficult position. The security problem reportedly originated on Wednesday evening, Eastern U.S. time. Reuters revealed that the company had suspended its website’s features and some unspecified in-store services.
Shoppers visiting the Victoria’s Secret online store encounter a message from the company:
“Dear customer, we have detected and are taking measures to resolve a security incident. Our website and select in-store services have been taken offline as a precaution. Our team is diligently working to restore operations fully. We thank you for your understanding during this time. In the interim, our Victoria’s Secret and PINK stores are open, and we eagerly anticipate serving you.”
At present, there is scant information regarding the security incident. Bloomberg, referencing an internal memo, disclosed that Hillary Super, CEO of Victoria’s Secret, communicated to employees that “recovery will take some time.”
If you’re aiming to make a purchase from Victoria’s Secret in the meantime, you might need to head to a physical location.
