Which Critical Role Campaign is the Most Hilarious? The Cast Shares Their Thoughts.

With a plethora of episodes, four central campaigns, and two animated series, alongside spin-offs, live performances, and one-shots, the ensemble of Critical Role has developed thousands of hours of TTRPG narrative. But what are their memorable moments? And do their preferred moments match yours?

To uncover this, and to honor their latest series, The Mighty Nein, the Critical Role team stopped by Mashable’s Say More for a sentimental retrospective. In a conversation with Mashable Entertainment Reporter Belen Edwards, cast members Laura Bailey, Taliesin Jaffe, Ashley Johnson, Matthew Mercer, Liam O’Brien, Marisha Ray, Sam Riegel, and Travis Willingham bestowed superlatives on their campaigns. Which campaign offered the most laughter? Which featured the most thrilling battles? And which was the most emotionally charged?

Each question incited discussion, as legendary conflicts, ridiculous humor, and gut-wrenching character moments are all integral to the Critical Role journey. For the comedic campaign, the cast found themselves divided between Campaigns 2 and 3.

As they deliberated, Campaign 2, focused on the Mighty Nein, showcased the mischief of Jester Lavorre (Bailey), as well as the humorously tense rapport between Nott the Brave (Riegel) and Fjord Stone (Willingham). On the other hand, Campaign 3, which highlights Bells Hells, provided more laughs with characters like Laudna (Ray), Chetney Pock O’Pea (Willingham), and Fearne Calloway (Johnson).

Willingham encapsulated it beautifully when contemplating the query, asking, “Where were we at our most foolish?”

The Mighty Nein is currently available for streaming on Prime Video, with new episodes released every Wednesday.
