White House Site Eliminates All LGBTQ Sections

Numerous pages related to LGBTQ rights and matters in the United States have been eliminated from the official White House website, as revealed by a report from LGBTQ media advocacy group GLAAD.

The White House website, **WhiteHouse.gov**, experienced major modifications on Inauguration Day, impacting not only its appearance but also its content. Information that was available during the Biden administration has been removed and substituted with profiles of officials from the Trump administration and details about his early executive actions. Among the deleted content are pages pertinent to the LGBTQ community. Searches for terms such as “lesbian,” “gay,” and “bisexual” now result in just one outcome: a reversal of Biden-era executive orders, which includes the 2022 order titled “Advancing Equality for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex Individuals.”

The search term “transgender” shows two results: the aforementioned reversal and a new executive order from Trump named “Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government,” which claims that there are solely two genders. A search for “LGBTQ” produces no results whatsoever.

GLAAD reports that several pages that were once accessible have been deleted, including:
– The [White House’s equity report](https://archive.ph/Fup37), which now leads to a [404 error page](https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/OMB-Report-on-E013985-Implementation_508-Compliant-Secure-v1.1.pdf).
– A fact sheet on [expanding HIV medication access](https://archive.ph/982M7), which is also now a [404 error page](https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2024/03/29/fact-sheet-update-on-the-united-states-commitment-to-expanding-access-to-medicines-around-the-world-2/).
– The Department of State’s [LGBTQ Rights page](https://archive.ph/vRko5), which redirects to a [404 error page](https://www.state.gov/subjects/lgbt-rights/).
– The Department of Labor’s [page on LGBTQ policy](https://archive.ph/yQ7B1), now a [404 error page](https://www.dol.gov/agencies/oasp/resources/lgbt-workers).

Other omitted content includes a fact sheet showcasing the [accomplishments of LGBTQ Americans](https://archive.is/EXWTz) and a [proclamation on Pride Month 2024](https://archive.ph/lNS9q), both of which now redirect to error pages.

These actions are consistent with Trump’s commitments made during his inaugural address, including the elimination of diversity programs and the implementation of policies acknowledging only two genders.

GLAAD’s president and CEO, Sarah Kate Ellis, condemned the decision, asserting, “President Trump claims to be a strong supporter of freedom of speech, yet he is evidently intent on censoring any information related to LGBTQ Americans and the issues we encounter.” Ellis pointed to Trump’s recent claim that he would “bring back” free speech, deeming the removal of LGBTQ resources a direct contradiction to that assertion.

“This action demonstrates the Trump administration’s objective of complicating access for LGBTQ Americans to federal resources or recognizing our existence under his presidency,” Ellis added. “Nevertheless, our community is more visible now than ever, and this endeavor to erase us will ultimately be unsuccessful.”
