xAI Introduces Grok Imagine for AI Videos and Images: A Guide to Experimenting with It

This past weekend, xAI introduced a refreshed version of the Grok iOS application that includes Grok Imagine, a feature designed for generating AI images and videos. On X, users of Grok are excitedly sharing their creations, with xAI’s founder Elon Musk amplifying their posts through retweets.

Grok Imagine is now available to Heavy and Premium+ members on the Grok iOS app and to Heavy subscribers on the Android application.

Grok Imagine provides generative AI with capabilities to create text-based images and can convert images into brief video clips with audio. It is comparable to the newly launched Midjourney AI video feature. Competing AI firms are offering capabilities for generating original videos from textual prompts, including Google’s Veo 3 and OpenAI’s Sora.

Musk lauded Grok Imagine on X, dubbing it a “meme motherlode” and suggested its NSFW potentials, claiming it “should improve almost every day.”

Earlier this month, xAI unveiled Grok 4, their most sophisticated model to date. In prior evaluations, Grok struggled in comparison to other leading AI image generators, particularly in terms of mitigating deepfake content.

How to experience Grok Imagine

Grok Imagine made its initial debut on the Grok iOS app, but the DogeDesigner X account, often retweeted by Musk, declared its launch on Android for SuperGrok Heavy patrons.

Mashable evaluated Grok Imagine on the iOS app and discovered it straightforward to produce images and videos.

Mashable continues to examine Grok Imagine, but early feedback seems promising. Similar to other Grok applications, Grok Imagine seems to be missing typical safety measures present in the AI industry. We have reached out to xAI for a statement.

Disclosure: Ziff Davis, the parent company of Mashable, initiated legal action against OpenAI in April, claiming copyright violations in the development and function of its AI systems.
