On the launch day of the ROG Xbox Ally X last week, Mashable spoke with Xbox President Sarah Bond, who provided fascinating insights regarding the future Xbox console. Bond affirmed that the forthcoming Xbox will deliver a “premium experience” comparable to a high-performance gaming PC. She underscored the significance of accessing games from any store or platform, moving away from the exclusive titles typically associated with console debuts.
Bond stressed the industry’s transition from exclusives, pointing out that major titles like Call of Duty, Minecraft, Fortnite, and Roblox are available universally, nurturing gaming communities. She expressed that Xbox should be accessible wherever players find themselves, whether in their living room, on a laptop, or while traveling, highlighting the personal and communal dimensions of gaming.
Xbox has made substantial investments in cloud gaming and its Xbox Game Pass service, which features cross-platform games. Although Sony’s blockbuster exclusives have prevailed in recent console competitions, Bond contends that the industry is advancing. She reaffirmed Microsoft’s commitment to providing a “premium” console experience with the upcoming Xbox, offering choices and options for gamers.
Bond did not clarify if the new console would resemble a gaming PC or the Xbox Series X, nor did she disclose a release date. However, she indicated that Microsoft is dedicated to ensuring a premium experience. In the meantime, the ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X are currently out of stock, with a 30-day wait at Best Buy for new orders.
