Young Sherlock Teaser Unveils Thrilling Origin Tale for Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sleuth

Everyone knows the tales of Sherlock Holmes, but who was Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s renowned detective before donning the deerstalker? Prime Video’s forthcoming Young Sherlock seeks to reveal this.

Directed and executive produced by Guy Ritchie, who also helmed the Robert Downey Jr.-starring Sherlock Holmes and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, Young Sherlock features Hero Fiennes Tiffin (After) in the principal role. From the initial teaser trailer of the show, his interpretation of Sherlock presents a charismatic and eloquent character.

In Young Sherlock, Holmes is a shamed young man enrolled at Oxford during the 1870s. Shortly, per the show’s official synopsis, “he becomes entangled in a murder case that endangers his freedom.”

With the game officially afoot, Sherlock sets off on a worldwide adventure to crack his first case. Anticipate explosions, brawls, and shootouts.

However, Sherlock is not the sole classic Doyle character receiving an origin tale. Sherlock’s adversary, James Moriarty (The Wheel of Time’s Dónal Finn), is also included. In the trailer, the two even establish a camaraderie. So, what will lead to their relationship deteriorating?

As hinted in the teaser, it could be the legendary deerstalker hat. When Sherlock contemplates trying one on, Moriarty intervenes. “If you start wearing a hat like that, I will no longer be friends with you,” he remarks.

Case closed!

Young Sherlock also features Zine Tseng, Joseph Fiennes, Natascha McElhone, Max Irons, and Colin Firth.

Young Sherlock debuts on March 4 on Prime Video.
