The cycle of social media imitation persists, as YouTube now mirrors Instagram and TikTok. A Google staff member on YouTube Help disclosed that YouTube is experimenting with a function that enables creators to tag collaborators directly within their videos, making it easier for viewers to discover and follow them.
This initiative aligns with the current collaboration features found on TikTok and Instagram, where joint posts and tags improve visibility for all participants.
At present, the feature is accessible to a chosen group of trusted creators, with intentions for wider distribution. The only known video utilizing this feature is a recent upload by MrBeast, showcasing collaborators Mark Rober, Ben Azelart, and the Stoke Twins.
The functionality mirrors that of Instagram and TikTok: clicking on the main creator’s name brings up a pop-up displaying all tagged collaborators, each equipped with a subscribe button. Similar to those platforms, creators are likely required to accept an invitation to be officially tagged within the video.
