YouTube TV was reinstated to complete functionality at the beginning of the weekend. After a financial dispute between Google and Disney that spanned several weeks, Disney channels, which include the ESPN networks, made their comeback to the streaming service once an agreement was finalized on Friday night. As a subscriber, I received a notification from YouTube TV that read: “We’re pleased to inform you that we’ve struck a deal with Disney to reintroduce their content to YouTube TV. You now have access to Disney channels, including ABC and ESPN, along with any recordings that were in your Library prior. Your personal settings and suggestions remain unchanged.”
The notification also indicated that the $20 credit provided by Google to YouTube TV users impacted by the Disney channel disruption is still available for those interested in claiming it. In short, if you managed without Disney content for a few weeks, you can receive $20 off your next bill with minimal effort. As a college football fan, the disruption was apparent since numerous major matches are aired on ESPN networks and ABC.
I’ll take the $20, but let’s prevent this from happening again during the upcoming football season.
