YouTube TV eliminates all Paramount channels amid contract disagreement.

YouTube TV is in a fortunate position now that the football season has just concluded.

Due to failed contract discussions, Google’s streaming service that serves as an alternative to cable (which I am a subscriber of) will cease to offer Paramount channels after February 13—coincidentally, today. This update was communicated through [YouTube’s blog](https://blog.youtube/inside-youtube/youtube-tv-and-paramount-programming-update/) and in a notification to subscribers, with Google mentioning that “good faith negotiations” have not yet come to a conclusion.

Anyone who has ever had cable or satellite TV subscriptions has probably faced this type of scenario before. When it’s time to renew contracts, one party seeks more than the other party is ready to provide, resulting in a deadlock that reduces the channels available to customers compared to what they originally purchased.

For YouTube TV subscribers, they are still paying $82.99 a month, but now lacking access to these channels:

– **CBS**
– **CBS Sports**
– **MTV**
– **BET**
– **Nickelodeon**
– **Comedy Central**
– **VH1**
– **Paramount Network**

CBS is a key broadcaster of live sports in the United States, so if this situation had arisen just a month prior during football season, the pushback could have been substantial. If the conflict extends into March, YouTube TV users might miss NCAA basketball tournament broadcasts. For now, we can only wait and observe if an agreement can be reached by both parties.
