What is Connections: Sports Edition?

The NYT‘s newest daily word challenge, introduced with The Athletic, can be accessed on web browsers as well as mobile devices. Participants group four words that have a shared attribute.

Each challenge comprises 16 words organized into four categories. These groups may consist of book titles, software, country names, etc. While several words might appear to connect, there is only one right solution.

If a player successfully identifies all four words within a set, those words are eliminated from the board. If a guess is incorrect, it counts as a mistake — players have up to four mistakes before the game concludes.

Players can rearrange and shuffle the board to facilitate discovering connections. Each category is color-coded: yellow is the simplest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Much like Wordle, results can be shared on social media.
