What is Connections: Sports Edition?

The NYT‘s newest daily word game, introduced alongside The Athletic, challenges players to group four words that share a similarity. Connections can be played on web browsers and mobile devices.

Each challenge presents 16 words segmented into four categories. These groups may encompass book titles, software, country names, and so forth. While several words may appear compatible, there is only one correct solution.

If a player successfully identifies all four words in a category, those words are eliminated. Wrong guesses are counted as mistakes, with a limit of four errors permitted before the game concludes.

Players have the ability to rearrange and shuffle the board to more easily identify connections. Each group is color-coded: yellow indicates the easiest, followed by green, blue, and purple. In a manner similar to Wordle, results can be shared on social media.
