TikTok to Stream World Cup Match Highlights

Segments of the 2026 World Cup matches will be broadcast live on TikTok, as announced by FIFA on Thursday. In a “first-of-its-kind Preferred Platform agreement,” the platform will also provide additional original content tailored specifically for TikTok, along with selected clips.

“FIFA’s aim is to share the excitement of the FIFA World Cup 2026 with as many supporters as possible, and we believe there is no better approach to advance that mission during the largest sports event in history than to select TikTok as the tournament’s inaugural Preferred Platform,” FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström stated in the press release.

FIFA and TikTok will also establish a creator program, allowing chosen TikTok users access to exclusive behind-the-scenes experiences such as press conferences and training activities. A broader array of creators will be permitted to utilize historical FIFA footage. (According to the announcement, TikTok will supposedly enforce anti-piracy measures.)

A World Cup hub will be available within the app, driven by TikTok GamePlan, a product suite for sports enthusiasts and creators revealed in December. This suite features a search hub and destination for fans to discover accounts, verify schedules, incorporate games into their calendars, purchase tickets, and produce their own content. The World Cup hub will additionally showcase custom stickers, filters, and gamification elements.

FIFA’s collaboration with TikTok extends until the conclusion of 2026.

James Stafford, TikTok’s global head of content, expressed in the press release, “Football has seen tremendous global growth on TikTok over the past several years, and as FIFA’s first-ever Preferred Platform, we are thrilled for fans to engage with the FIFA World Cup 2026 beyond the 90 minutes, with exclusive content and unparalleled creator access.”
