Is Reddit Not Accessible? Comprehending the Tuesday Disruption

Is Reddit down?

The site is functioning normally at this moment, but many Reddit users were inquiring about this on Tuesday, Jan. 13, when the well-known online discussion platform seemed to experience a temporary outage. As per Downdetector, issues began around 11:33 a.m. ET, with tens of thousands of Downdetector users indicating difficulties in accessing the Reddit website and app. (Disclosure: Mashable and Downdetector are both under the ownership of Ziff Davis.)

At the height of the outage, Downdetector recorded 89,943 user error reports.

“Reddit is presently encountering a major internal outage leading to extensive service interruptions,” states a Downdetector summary (emphasis in original). “The severity is assessed as Very High, mainly impacting mobile app access (55%) and website connectivity (39%).”

Once more, as of this moment, Reddit’s website and app seem to be entirely operational.
