What is Connections?

The NYT‘s newest daily word game has taken social media by storm. The Times credits associate puzzle editor Wyna Liu with aiding in the development of this new word game and introducing it to the publication’s Games section. Connections is available on both web browsers and mobile devices, asking players to categorize four words that share a similarity.

Each puzzle consists of 16 words, which are arranged into four distinct categories. These categories could encompass anything from book titles, software, country names, and so forth. Although several words may appear to correlate, only one answer is valid.

When a player successfully identifies all four words in a category, those words are eliminated from the board. An incorrect guess is deemed a mistake—players can make up to four mistakes before the game concludes.

Players also have the option to rearrange and shuffle the board to facilitate finding connections. Furthermore, each group is color-coded with yellow as the simplest, succeeded by green, blue, and purple. As with Wordle, you can share your results with friends via social media.
