Google Gemini Introduces Mac Application

Mac user? Looking to enhance your life with AI? Great news: Google’s AI tool Gemini is now accessible as a dedicated app for Mac.

By downloading the app, you can activate it with a keyboard shortcut (Option + Space), which is simpler than visiting the Gemini website. Moreover, Gemini can engage with your screen and local files.

To permit this, allow the app access to your Mac’s screen and audio through the Settings. For your privacy and security, it’s advisable to revoke this access when the app is not in use.

Google’s Gemini joins competitors like Anthropic’s Claude and OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which already offer Mac applications. Google asserts this is “merely the start.”

“We’re establishing the groundwork for a genuinely personal, proactive, and powerful desktop assistant, with further updates to come in the upcoming months,” Google stated in a blog entry.

The app is available at no cost for all macOS users running version 15 and above. Download it at http://gemini.google/mac.
