What distinguishes an art TV?
Any standard smart TV can showcase a long YouTube slideshow featuring renowned paintings. Genuine art TVs possess unique characteristics that differentiate them from typical flat screens:
A flush mount: Art TVs come with a specialized mount that lets them hang flat against the wall, akin to a framed photograph or artwork. From the side, no metallic support is visible holding the TV.
A matte display: The authentic versions of famous artworks are not displayed behind glossy glass — if they were, your reflection would overshadow the artwork. The Frame introduced non-reflective displays to better replicate the museum atmosphere. The finest art TVs utilize anti-glare coating for enjoying TV shows, games, and art even in bright conditions.
Interchangeable bezels: The ornamental picture frame-like border enhances the “not a TV” illusion. Various art TVs provide different frame colors, allowing you to substitute the conventional black border with a white or wood finish.
While the Hisense Déco TV that I tested and adored features a chic curved white frame, it doesn’t satisfy the above standards — it leans more towards being an artsy TV than a genuine art TV, although it could still serve as a decent alternative to The Frame. If you’re in the market for a compact bedroom TV that matches your interior design, I strongly recommend the QLED Déco TV. We’ll designate it as an honorable mention for this compilation.
