Tesla’s 2025 holiday update is now live, representing one of the most important releases to date. As per tradition, the company presents a significant update ahead of the December holidays, and this year is no exception. The 2025 holiday update, which will be launched soon, merges entertainment, gaming, and exciting new driving and navigation capabilities.
The highlight of this release is Grok with Navigation Commands. Tesla remarks, “Grok can now add & edit navigation destinations, serving as your personal guide.” To activate this feature, Grok’s personality must be configured as “Assistant.”
Further navigation improvements allow users to designate navigation favorites like Home and Work by placing a pin on the map. Suggested locations will be displayed based on recent journeys and patterns, but will only be available while parked. Navigation also now includes an optional automatic routing for high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes. When this option is applied, your route will automatically select the carpool lane when eligible, factoring in time, location, passenger count, and road restrictions.
In terms of charging capabilities, users can now establish charge limits for various locations, beneficial for maintaining consistent charge levels at particular spots such as home or work. Selected Tesla Superchargers will offer a 3D view accessible via “View Site Map,” providing a detailed overview of the Supercharger stalls.
Staying true to the spirit of typical Tesla holiday updates, many additional features are simply for enjoyment. New offerings include the Tesla Photobooth, which enables selfies using the vehicle’s interior camera, complete with filters, stickers, and emojis, with the option to share images via the Tesla app.
A Santa Mode is also included, transforming your vehicle into Santa’s sleigh, along with a new light show named Jingle Rush, and more customization possibilities for your Tesla avatar, which include window tints, bespoke wraps, and license plates.
The update brings a fresh game, the ISS Docking Simulator, where you can try to dock your spacecraft with the International Space Station using controls modeled after actual NASA astronaut interfaces.
Additional noteworthy features feature Live Activity on the iPhone while your car is in Dog Mode, offering periodic interior photo snapshots and live status updates on temperature, battery, and climate conditions. Dashcam recordings now incorporate more detailed information such as speed, steering wheel angle, and self-driving status.
Minor new features consist of the ability to add Spotify tracks to the queue from the search interface and the option to enable or disable wireless phone charging pads.
As usual, the availability of features may differ based on region and vehicle model; older models might not receive all updates. Tesla has not disclosed the precise release date, only indicating that it will be available soon.
