Prime Video is transforming into a platform reminiscent of TikTok. In a press release, Amazon revealed that the Prime Video mobile application has introduced a Clips feed, which provides brief, shareable video snippets from its offerings. Originally intended for NBA broadcasts on Prime Video, this feature has now broadened to include series such as The Boys and other original content. Users can access the Clips feed by navigating to the Clips carousel on the homepage and selecting any Clip.
Clips can easily be shared by copying and pasting a link, and users have the option to like them or utilize them to discover the highlighted show or film. At present, this feature is accessible to a select group of customers in the U.S. on Android, iOS, and Fire Tablet devices, with wider rollout anticipated during the summer.
Brian Griffin, an executive at Prime Video, mentioned, “As a primary entertainment hub, Prime Video provides customers with an extensive array of premium content, and we aim to simplify and enhance their ability to uncover what is most pertinent. Clips offers customers an innovative way to browse with short, customized snippets suited to their preferences. Whether they have just a few minutes to scroll or are in search of something to view for longer durations, entertainment is merely a tap away.”
Although the resemblance to TikTok is evident, users do not currently have the ability to generate their own Clips. Essentially, this represents another strategy for Amazon to showcase Prime Video content.
