LG Incorporates Copilot into Smart TVs with No Possibility of Deletion

Oh, you’re not interested in having an AI chatbot on your TV? That’s too unfortunate, my friend, because it’s happening. Well, if you possess an LG smart TV, at least.

The technology website Tom’s Hardware noted that users started voicing their dissatisfaction after a recent software update for LG TVs added Microsoft Copilot, which cannot be removed. The complaints initially appeared on Reddit’s r/mildlyinfuriating, which seems appropriate. The post has accumulated around 36,000 upvotes and thousands of comments, the majority of which voiced frustration.

Tech site Endadget reported that two employees with LG TVs verified that indeed, Copilot was installed and could not be uninstalled. At best, you could conceal it from the home screen.

Why would anyone want an AI assistant app on their TV? That’s a valid question. I can’t claim to have the answer. However, if you own an LG smart TV, it appears you have it, regardless of your preference.
