The prominent credit reporting firm 700Credit has suffered a data breach that may have exposed the sensitive financial information of millions.
Approximately 5.6 million people have had their personal data taken. The compromised information varies but includes “name, address, Social Security number, and date of birth,” as per a notification from 700Credit. The company is a leader in credit reporting, serving numerous automobile dealerships.
Conduent data breach revealed data of 10.5 million individuals, including Social Security numbers
As per the Michigan attorney general’s office — where 700Credit is based — on Oct. 25, “a breach was identified that compromised personal data gathered from dealers between May 2025 and October 2025.”
“If you receive a notification from 700Credit, do not disregard it,” declared Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. “It is essential that anyone impacted by this data breach acts quickly to safeguard their information.”
The company stated that the breach seemingly originated from an integration partner in July, but the partner did not promptly alert 700Credit. An exposed API then purportedly extracted customer data.
Customers affected are currently being notified and will be provided with complimentary credit-monitoring services.
