Ted Lasso Season 4 Preview Reveals Richmond’s Women’s Soccer Team

Is there a whiff of shortbread in the atmosphere? Or maybe fragments of rustic wisdom? This can signify only one thing: Ted Lasso is almost back.

Apple TV’s Emmy-winning comedy is set to return for a fourth season this August, bringing Ted (Jason Sudeikis) back to Richmond following his departure in Season 3. This time, he will be coaching a second division women’s football team instead of the Richmond Greyhounds. The series teased this new path in its Season 3 finale when Keeley (Juno Temple) suggested the concept to Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham).

The initial teaser for Season 4 features the women’s team in action, showcasing tryouts, practices, and high-stakes matches. It introduces new characters, including Tanya Reynolds from Sex Education as an assistant coach and Tracey Ullman in an undisclosed part. Additional new cast members comprise Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern, and Grant Feely.

Several beloved characters from Ted Lasso will also be back for Season 4. Sudeikis, Waddingham, and Temple will return to their roles, along with Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt, and Jeremy Swift.

Along with emphasizing the women’s team, the Season 4 teaser indicates exciting developments for the Ted Lasso ensemble. Rebecca shares a kiss with Matthijs (Matteo van der Grijn), the Dutch houseboat owner with whom she enjoyed a magical night in Season 3. Meanwhile, Roy and Keeley have some intense interactions—could their romance be reignited after deciding to stay friends in Season 3? For answers to matters of love and football, we must wait until August.

Ted Lasso Season 4 premieres on Aug. 5 on Apple TV.
